Ceremonies and rituals are an important part of our lives. They mark transitions, celebrate all aspects of life, and seal relationships. Ceremonies can be large and grand or small and intimate. What’s most important is the meaning and significance for you.

Weddings and Commitment Ceremonies

Your wedding is a special event. It tells your families and friends you are making a commitment to seal your relationship with sacred vows. It’s a big, important decision in your lives. It’s also very personal and intimate, so you want the ceremony to reflect something of who you both are.

Whether you’re coming to Fredericksburg for a destination wedding or gathering with a few select people, I would be honored to officiate your ceremony. I’ve performed hundreds of weddings, each unique in their own way.

Although Texas does not allow same-gender marriages, I believe all are entitled to making a sacred commitment to the person they love and are willing to make a lasting commitment.

Texas Marriage License

You must have a marriage license to get married in the state of Texas. You may obtain the license at any county clerk’s office and it is valid for a ceremony anywhere in the state. Some county offices have the marriage license form online. The two of you can fill it out prior to appearing at the county office. In most cases you both need to appear with valid photo identification and ability to pay the marriage license fee.

Texas does require a 72-hour waiting period between the issuing of a marriage license and it being valid. That means you must obtain your license 3 days before your ceremony.

Be sure to check with your local county clerk’s office for current and accurate information.

Memorial Services

Memorial services are for the living. Celebrating and commemorating the life of someone we love, no matter how long or short their life, is an important part of grieving. Even if your loved one expressly requested no services, it would not be a violation of their trust for you to have a simple service for those of you especially close to your loved one.

Renewal of Vows

Renewing your vows is a special way to acknowledge a significant anniversary and renew your commitment one to another. A brief renewal ceremony can easily be incorporated into an already planned anniversary celebration or it can be its own intimate ceremony. It can reflect variations from your wedding ceremony or reflect something more in keeping of your contemporary life together.

Other Possible Ceremonies

Maybe you’ve lost a special animal friend or want to have your new home blessed. Maybe there’s something else you’d like to mark with a ceremony. Let’s talk.
